Banja Vrućica – the health jewel of Republika Srpska attracting the German market

A promotional event dedicated to Banja Vrućica from Teslić, one of the most renowned health and tourist centers in the region, was held in Stuttgart, organized by the Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the event was to present the spa’s offerings and potential to the German market — particularly to citizens from the region who live and work in Germany, as well as to German tour operators and health institutions.

The promotion was attended by Consul General Vera Sajić, the director of Banja Vrućica, Dragan Bogdanić, and Marketing Director Aleksandar Radošević, along with numerous representatives of the diaspora, the business community and tourism partners.

Banja Vrućica – a blend of health, tradition and modern tourism

Banja Vrućica is considered a leader in health and congress tourism in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The complex includes four high-category hotels — Kardial, Posavina, Hercegovina and Srbija — with a total capacity of around 1,000 beds, making it the largest spa complex in the region.

In addition to hotel capacities, the spa offers a modern medical center and a clinic for cardiovascular rehabilitation, a wellness and spa center, as well as congress facilities that attract numerous business events from the country and abroad. The complex records more than 200,000 overnight stays annually, with guests arriving from the region, Europe, and increasingly from Germany and Austria.

Support from diplomatic missions and the promotion of Srpska abroad

Consul General Vera Sajić emphasized that Banja Vrućica is a true gem of spa tourism in Republika Srpska, with a rich tradition, expert medical staff and high service standards.

“I will always support events like this, because good examples should be promoted beyond our borders. This was also a wonderful opportunity to meet with our people here at the consulate and to showcase the beauty of our homeland,” Sajić said.

Bogdanić expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to present Banja Vrućica and its full range of services to the German market, as well as to speak with people living and working in Germany.

“I hope this kind of cooperation will continue and that we will have the opportunity to present the spa in other diplomatic missions as well. We owe special gratitude to the Consul for making this event possible — this is the second time, after our previous presentation in Munich,” Bogdanić noted.

Radošević stated that the event was an excellent opportunity to present the new clinic and the therapeutic services that are often less accessible in Germany.

“With the support of the Consulate, we held a presentation of our services and new medical facilities for our citizens living in Stuttgart. The meetings were constructive, the questions were meaningful, and we look forward to welcoming them to Banja Vrućica,” he added.

Growing investments and increasing interest from foreign partners

In recent years, Banja Vrućica has implemented significant investments in modernizing its infrastructure, including the renovation of the Kardial and Hercegovina hotels, as well as the construction of new medical and wellness facilities. Planned investments include energy-efficient buildings and the expansion of accommodation capacities, alongside continuous staff training and digital transformation of operations.

According to the Tourism Organization of Republika Srpska, Banja Vrućica accounts for more than 20% of all spa overnight stays in Srpska, with the share of foreign tourists growing year after year. The most frequent guests come from Serbia, Slovenia, Austria and Germany — confirming the success of promotional events such as this one in Stuttgart, as well as previous ones in Munich.

Tourism as a pillar of development in Republika Srpska

Health tourism is becoming one of the strategic development directions of Republika Srpska, supported by the Government of Republika Srpska and relevant institutions. Banja Vrućica stands as a prime example of how a combination of traditional spa culture, modern medicine and tourism innovation can become a driver of local and regional economic growth.
