The Municipality of Gacko will soon enrich its tourism offer with two attractive and modern adventure facilities—a zip line route above Lake Klinje and the rental of inflatable canoe boats. These additions represent a significant step toward the development of active and adventure tourism, making Gacko increasingly recognizable not only in Herzegovina but beyond.
The project has been fully completed from a technical standpoint, and the technical inspection was successfully carried out, attended by representatives of the Municipality of Gacko, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as co-financier of the project, as well as contractors and supervisory authorities. This has created all the necessary conditions for the new tourism facilities to be put into full operation soon.
The Municipality of Gacko confirmed that the next step is the training of personnel who will operate the zip line, scheduled for next week. At the same time, the procurement of seven inflatable canoe boats planned under the project is underway, with delivery expected by the end of the year.
The zip line route, approximately 549 meters long, extends along its entire length above Lake Klinje, at heights ranging from 10 to 30 meters. It offers users a unique experience of flying above the water and spectacular views of the untouched natural surroundings of the Gacko area. The starting point of the zip line is located directly next to a local asphalt road connecting Gacko with nearby villages, while the finishing platform is situated on the opposite shore of the lake, on rocks rising above the water surface.
A particularly attractive feature is the fact that the end of the zip line is located in close proximity to Gacko’s most popular swimming area, complete with a landscaped beach. This further enhances the tourist experience and allows visitors to continue their adrenaline adventure with swimming, relaxation, or spending time in nature.
Transportation of users back to the starting point will be organized using inflatable canoe boats operated by trained personnel, completing a unique and appealing tourism circuit around Lake Klinje.
Management of the zip line facility has been entrusted to the Public Institution “Cultural and Sports Center” Gacko, ensuring institutional support, project sustainability, and high-quality organization of all activities.
By introducing such adventure attractions, Gacko clearly demonstrates its commitment to developing tourism based on natural resources, active recreation, and modern tourism trends. According to available information, there is no other zip line offer of this kind in the Herzegovina region, giving Gacko an additional advantage and the potential to become a regional destination for lovers of adrenaline, nature, and active tourism.
The new facilities are expected to attract a large number of tourists and excursionists, contribute to extending the tourist season, and open up new opportunities for employment and the development of supporting services. Alongside its natural beauty, rich history, and hospitality, Gacko thus gains a new and powerful asset on the tourism map of the Republic of Srpska and Herzegovina.
