The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, Alen Šeranić, expects that the spa center in Srpske Toplice in Banja Luka, with a value of about 25 million KM, will be completed by the end of the year.

After visiting the center, where the reconstruction and expansion are in the final stages, together with the director of the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Miroslav Zotović, Goran Talić, Minister Šeranić stated that the Government of the Republic of Srpska co-financed this project with 10 million KM from the public investment program, while the rest was financed by the Zotović Institute from its funds.

“This is an important project from both a health and rehabilitation perspective, as well as from a tourism and recreation perspective that this facility will achieve,” Minister Šeranić said.

He mentioned that the Zotović Institute has maximally utilized all available resources in utilizing thermal water for cooling, heating, and therapeutic purposes, significantly reducing the operating costs of the spa center.

Minister Šeranić stated that this part of Banja Luka will gain a new function with this facility, which is important for the development of the city and all its communities.

He also noted that the Zotović Institute complements and improves the quality of healthcare services and that a new orthopedic project in Slatina is nearing completion.

Director of the Institute, Dr. Miroslav Zotović Goran Talić, under whose auspices this center will operate, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction of this 7,350 square meter facility, which will offer all rehabilitation and therapeutic services within the Institute’s scope.

He mentioned that the facility will be self-sustainable for several reasons, including heating and cooling with thermal water.

In 2021, the eKapija portal reported on the planned reconstruction works at the Srpske Toplice spa center in the neighborhood known as Šeher in Banja Luka.

On approximately 7,360 square meters, a rich therapeutic content is planned, combined with recreation and aesthetics. The primary facilities will be oriented towards high-quality, modern, and efficient use of the natural resource of thermal mineral water, including a variety of water-related features such as indoor and outdoor pools, a children’s pool with a sunbathing area, wellness facilities (massages, saunas, salt room, tepidarium, Turkish bath, pools), fitness, and more, as announced by the Dr. Miroslav Zotović Institute.

The spa complex will also include accommodation facilities, medical offices, rooms for magnetic, electrical, and kinesiotherapy, as well as a hyperbaric chamber.

“The technical documentation plans to harmonize the facades and roof as much as possible with the existing and natural environment, with a special focus on the interpretation of characteristic architectural elements of the existing environment in this part of the city,” as stated by the Institute.

The Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Dr. Miroslav Zotović began the implementation of the Spa and Recreational Center project in Srpske Toplice – Šeher in 2019, with the intention of improving service quality and reactivating one of the most recognizable environments for the citizens of Banja Luka.
